I don’t always agree with his articulations (see when he & his crew took joking about progressive politics as cancer a bit too far) but I think I agree with his Libertarian leanings more than I get frustrated with his sheer lunacy.

However I listened to his show recently and discovered his hypocrisy.

We won’t talk about how Glenn was incorrect about his memory of Star Wars: The Phantom Menance. (Queen Amidala wanted to return to her planet and Senator Palpatine instructed her to stay with him) At least we won’t talk about it too much because I’ve already displayed my Star Wars geekyness.

I remember when the media was giving Herman Cain a hard time because he paused for a number of seconds while collecting his thoughts after being asked about foreign policy. I remember how Beck and his crew staunchly defended Cain and hammered the media for making a case of the pause.

I remember agreeing with Beck and others who essentially said, “Let the man collect his thoughts”.

Now here comes the problem.

When talking about Newt Gingrich and his debate performance in Florida, they aired a segment where Mitt Romney was hammering Newt about his relationship with Fanny & Freddie.

While listening to the audio, Glenn made this comment while Newt took a moment to collect his thoughts for a response, “pause, pause, pause”. A comment made in derision as if it was poor form to take a moment before responding. Glenn is clearly anti-Gingrich. I just find it curious that he would perform akin to the media in which he hates so much.

Make no mistake, divorce is a horrible thing. I’d believe anyone who has gone through it would say that it is not an enjoyable time. It is not the desired result of anyone getting married.

Newt Gingrich has gone through two divorces.

We get to hear from his ex-wife. From ABC.

Does this strike anyone else as newsworthy? Two days before a major primary contest in fact.

And maybe it is newsworthy. Maybe the American people deserve to know how ugly their divorce was and how an ex-wife believes her ex-husband to be evil incarnate. This could all be true.

My rant is against the ABC newspeople. Is it odd that they are airing this interview at this time? Is it odd that they even conducted the interview? What possible insights may we glean from this interview?

Do you remember when John Edwards was running for President? Do you remember when the major news networks reported on his extramarital affair – while his wife was suffering from cancer? Wait a second…they didn’t. Not one major news agency carried the story. They sat on it. It was left up to the tabloid rags to deliver the facts.

All of a sudden the tabloids look like news and the major networks look like tabloid rags.

This is the final straw for me that ABC, and maybe CBS & NBC, are aligned with President Obama and the Democrat party. I want news that is worthy of my attention. I don’t want to read tabloid smear which is what this interview will be.

There is no question that Newt Gingrich connects with voters during his debate performances. This is also no question that he is studied in history. He threw enough “red meat” to the Conservative audience in South Carolina that you wouldn’t believe he’s failed in New Hampshire and Iowa.

Gingrich claims he’s the only candidate who could seriously take on President Obama in debates. But will debating be enough?

President Obama has no need to comply with Gingrich’s plan for three three-hour debates. The President doesn’t have to do any. I’m sure we’ll see at least one debate but what would President Obama gain from participating in more than one?

The President has been campaigning since taking office. He has a mammoth war chest in which to hammer any opponent.  He has a history of politically destroying anyone who stands in his way. What chance would Gingrich have?

1) Gingrich has a temper that gets him in trouble. Team Obama would certainly tap into his fury. 2) There’s the past life of the former Speaker that will dog him throughout the campaign. (Telling people you’ve asked forgiveness from God is not enough for most Evangelicals) 3) Gingrich pulls the same amount of hate as likeability. He’s similar to Hillary Clinton in this aspect. Could he overcome the media-driven perception of him?

Of course there are quite a number of appealing aspects to Candidate Gingrich. We saw the best during the South Carolina debate. Could he stay above the “gotcha questions” from the media to speak his plan? Could he provide the clear alternative to President Obama’s vision to grab the zeal of moderates?

There is no doubt an Obama/Gingrich race would be entertaining – to say the least. It’s one I would like to watch. An Obama/Romney race sounds as fun as basket weaving. I want to see two candidates with completely different views of government and visions for our country. An Obama/Gingrich contest would provide that stark contrast. It’s what we need.

“I absolutely believe that the American people still have confidence and faith in this country and there’s a core decency and strength and resilience to be tapped, and that most of the time the better angels of our nature win out.”

I was going along and really agreeing with his speech when I read the last part of that sentence. This, “better angels of our nature” comes from the characters Toby Ziegler and President Jed Bartlet. (Richard Schiff and Martin Sheen)

In the episode, “The Crackpots and These Women”

“Toby: Let the poets write that he had the tools of greatness, but the voices of his better angels was shouted down by his obsessive need to win.”

This line about angels and our nature was taken from a speech that Abraham Lincoln gave.

“The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearth-stone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”

Which is taken from a poem by Aberjhani.

So maybe on further reflection, the President’s speech writers were simply quoting Abe Lincoln…Or maybe Aaron Sorkin is ghostwriting for President Obama.

For President Obama’s weekly address, he shared how he wanted more power … to shrink the federal government. Does this sound like the President Obama we’ve had for the past three years?

“I told those CEOs what I’ll tell any business leader: ask yourself what you can do to bring more jobs back to the country that made your success possible.  And I’ll make sure you’ve got a government that does everything in its power to help you succeed.”

This is a weird thought. All businesses need to do is ask themselves a question and President Obama will help them succeed? This is creating the confusion for our businesses. They want to bring jobs back to the United States but then they see that the taxes and regulations will actually cause the business to fail.

“I called on Congress to help me make government work better for you.”

This is a phrase that President Obama needs to add to his daily vocabulary. Congress is there to keep you in check. You have to work with them. You cannot become a dictator. Even though you hate them and even if you think they will block everything you send them, you have to work with Congress. That’s the way our government is set up and we do not want you to change it.

“we have a 21st century economy, but we’ve still got a government organized for the 20th century.”

You can tell it’s an election year because the most Liberal President is sounding alot like one of the most successful Democrat President – Clinton. Remember when he limited the size of government workers? Remember when he balanced the budget and actually had a surplus? And do you remember it all happened because, like it or not, he worked with Newt Gingrich and the young Congress.

Compromise and not grandstanding is what we want from our government. Get things done. I actually blame President Obama and his administration for our “do nothing” Congress. While they have earned their own blame for our mess – our President’s agenda has been a disaster.

“I asked Congress to reinstate the authority that past presidents have had to streamline and reform the Executive Branch. let me be clear: I will only use this authority for reforms that result in more efficiency, better service, and a leaner government.”

Can we believe this? After he has expanded the size of “his” government, he wants to go back and retool it? He wants to actually shrink it? It’s almost as if he’s becoming a Republican. It’s almost as if he realizes he has to become more moderate if he is to have any chance at reelection.

“we’re creating a new website – BusinessUSA – that will serve as a one-stop shop with information for businesses small and large that want to start selling their stuff around the world.”

Time will tell if this webpage will truly serve the business world or simply be another tool for Democratic fundraising.

“rebuilding our economy so that, once again, hard work pays off, responsibility is rewarded”

All that I see from this President and his administration is that milking off of the government is rewarded; that complaining and protesting is the pay off. There is nothing about this President’s policies that speak out for responsibility. It’s always about blaming the other person and shifting blame.

“we’ve added more than 3 million private sector jobs over the past 22 months”

This is good news. I like hearing about the jobs created. But there are so many details that we don’t know. How many of these jobs are part-time or less? How many of these jobs are for a limited time? Do these jobs point toward a secure future? I just don’t know.

“we’ve got to keep rebuilding our economy so that everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share”

Does this fair share include all of your friends who are protesting about not having enough money or complaining about their pathetic mortgage payments? Does your call for fair share include people to do all that they can to make money? If they can’t get hired, will you encourage them to start their own business? This is what my America is all about – being dependent on no one but yourself.

“That’s why I appointed Richard Cordray as our nation’s new consumer watchdog this week.”

Which was a truly poor decision. The so-called recess appointment is abused so much. I wasn’t a fan of President Bush using it for the U.N. representative but at least that was a position that had to be filled. We needed to have a voice at the U.N.

This position is something our President has created for his own usage and to fill the pockets of his financial buddies. Make no mistake. This position is NOT created for you. This position was created to please Obama’s donors.

“his sole mission is to protect consumers from potential abuses by the financial industry and to make sure that you’ve got all the transparent information you need to make the important financial decisions in your lives.”

Translate this to, “he will create as much red tape and cumbersome interference that the average American will give up their ambition and fall back into the waiting arms of the Federal Government.

“Republicans in the Senate kept blocking his confirmation – not because they objected to him, but because they wanted to weaken his agency. That made no sense.”

It actually makes perfect sense. Congress needs to have oversight. There needs to be checks to all Federal agencies. President Obama has created a shadow dictatorship and it will destroy the Republic that America should be.

I do not want to live is a Socialist country and that’s what we will get if we have eight more years of Obama’s administration.

“I don’t want to give a long speech.”

He just wants the money. But seriously, this makes him better than Clinton and many preachers around the country.

“in some ways, 2012 is even more important than it was four years ago.”

And four years after that will be even more important than 2012. This was used by President Bush and almost every President in history. This is why we have to reelect them. The next four years are always more important.

“The vision about where we want to take the country could not be more different.”

Indeed. And we shall see how your journey is not what a democratic republic needs.

“we need to go as a country; a country that’s based on everybody having a fair shot, a country that depends on everybody doing their fair share, a country where fair play applies across the board.”

This sounds perfect for the people who don’t have much and aren’t working their tails off. To them, fairness is having someone else do all the work and collecting a huge entitlement.

If I could believe that, “everybody having a fair shot” meant that discrimination would end, I could agree with it. Unfortunately, this President’s policies prove that these “fairness” statements mean “everyone will have less”. He will bring the wealth of America to ruin and the economy will crumble.

The catch is he wants everyone else to suffer. If you ask his team and his democrats to cut their pay – they balk.

“Making sure that we’re investing in science and basic research.”

But wait! Didn’t you complain about the research and development of the ATMs and other computers because they caused the loss of jobs? This is crazy talk.

“All of the things that we’ve done over the last three years — to end the war in Iraq”

Hold on. Not so fast. A quick look at the facts will prove that President Obama did not end the war in Iraq. The move out of troops from Iraq was in place with President Bush. I suppose it’s very easy to promise ending the war with Iraq when you know the soldiers were planned to come home.

I believe that President Obama believes he is doing what is best for the country.

I simply disagree with him.

I’ve been thinking a bit on some of the things radio talk show host Glenn Beck desires in politics.

He wants to repeal everything, or almost everything, President Obama’s administration has done the last few years. On many if not all of these issues, I am in agreement with Mr. Beck.

However, it seems that he wants the next President, and Members of Congress to change everything instantly. He calls it a return to the original intent of the Constitution for our federal government.

This is where I find him to be the same as President Obama.

President Obama came into office and basically forced his policies through Congress and the American people. He ran for office on the promise of transparency and a lengthy time-table for bills to be debated in the public but these promises never came to be. He is now a President who will forever fight with the GOP and claim compromise.

The GOP will never play along because they do not trust the President. Both sides have to compromise on their pet projects. (Taxes have to go up and entitlements have to be reformed)

Glenn Beck wants the conservative President to act the same way: come into office and shove his/her policies quickly through Congress and the American people. If this were to happen, Democrats in Congress will work to block everything coming from the White House just as Republicans are doing now.

Most Americans do not want instant change. This has to happen gradually. Officials must work within the system to bring about change – not instantly. We all see how flawed things are. We all understand the tax code needs reformed, health care needs fixed and Social Security needs reformed as well. This all can be done step-by-step and not lunge by lunge.

There’s a story about a preacher and the piano. The preacher wanted to move the piano so one week he moved it to where he wanted it. The congregation raised holy hell and forced him to move it back. Upset with his congregation, the preacher had an idea and the next week he moved the piano an inch closer to where he wanted it. Each week for the next year he moved the piano one inch. By the end of the year, the piano had been moved to where the preacher ultimately wanted it and the congregation never said a word.

Change can come, Mr Beck. But if you want it to come as soon as the new President comes into office, you will never get things done and this new President will behave exactly like President Obama.

President Obama gave a major speech in Tex – Kansas. It pinpoints how he is not the President this country needs.

First of all, there was that gaffe at the very beginning of his “thank you” part of the speech. He forgot he was in Kansas.

“Well, it is great to be back in the state of Tex — state of Kansas”

My question is why wasn’t the media all over this mistake? They tirelessly attack the GOP candidates whenever they make a mistake but we never hear about the many times President Obama errs.

Oh that’s right – to this media, Obama is perfection personified.

“Mortgages sold to people who couldn’t afford them, or even sometimes understand them. Banks and investors allowed to keep packaging the risk and selling it off. Huge bets — and huge bonuses — made with other people’s money on the line”

It’s important to remember that it was the Democrats who forced the lenders to make exceptions for people who would never be able to pay off the loan. Obama loves to blame the GOP but in this case, he has to look at the history books, the records and see that it was his own party that created this awful situation.

Some people are just not supposed to own a house whenever they think they should.

“innocent, hardworking Americans who had met their responsibilities but were still left holding the bag.”

Innocent? Who met their responsibilities? Are you kidding me? If you could have made your payments, there would have never been in issue. These so-called innocents should have themselves to blame.

“After all that’s happened, after the worst economic crisis, the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, they want to return to the same practices that got us into this mess. In fact, they want to go back to the same policies that stacked the deck against middle-class Americans for way too many years.”

Again, no. Mr President. It was your parties policies. You have to stop this constant game of blame the past. You have to look at your own policies and see how it’s destroying our country. You are at war with our country. You are destroying it.

These new Republicans who are in Congress and running for President do not want the same practices and policies. They want to roll back everything you have done.

“I believe that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, when everyone does their fair share”

Be careful whenever you talk about fair share. When you talk like that, you sound an awful lot like someone from the USSR. Check it, the fair shot is that you get a chance. It’s up to you to work your tail off to advance. If you fail or are just plain lazy, you had your fair shot and blew it. Not everyone should get a trophy just because they played the sport.

“the free market is the greatest force for economic progress in human history. It’s led to a prosperity and a standard of living unmatched by the rest of the world. But”

This is proof that Obama is at war with America. I was told that whenever you hear someone say the word, “but” you are to ignore everything they said beforehand. Check it out. Everything Obama said before the “but” is a lie in his mind.

“If you were a bank teller or a phone operator or a travel agent, you saw many in your profession replaced by ATMs and the Internet.”

Is the President saying that we need to get rid of the Internet and ATMs? Is he saying we need to return to the era before the computer? This is not sounding like a President I want to elect again.

“especially since fewer Americans today are part of a union.”

This guy is really ticking me off. Now he’s praising the unions. If he had his way, everyone would be part of a union so that he would have more money for his liberal buddies. This sickens me. If I was a cussing person, I would be saying some nasty things.

“our healthy skepticism of too much government. That’s in America’s DNA.”

Proof that Obama is unAmerican. Everything about his Presidency is the joy have too much government. So if the American DNA is not wanting a big government, Obama is not what America needs.

At a campaign stop President Obama said:

“our campaign was not about me”

The entire race was about the man, Obama. It all revolved around his celebrity. It was Obama 24/7. There was nothing of substance to his policy at all except that he was the anti-Bush.

This is why I was floored. A blatant lie built on how many years of false advertising?

“because of what you did in 2008, we have already started to see what change looks like.”

And no one but those who nurse at the government’s helping, or those who profit from the poor, like what they see. The only people who are praising this change are those who want to never work again, who believe it to be their right to own what they didn’t earn. Who hate the fact that some people are more gifted than they are.

We are becoming the nanny state.

“Change is the first bill I signed into law”

That doesn’t even make sense. Once again you’re resorting to flair without the substance. You signed change into law?

“and the fuel-efficient cars that are now rolling off the assembly lines”

You mean the ones that catch on fire and that GM is buying back? The ones that no one but the federal government wants? Those fuel-efficient cars?

“Reform that will finally ensure that in the United States of America, nobody is going to go bankrupt because they get sick”

No, but we will go bankrupt paying for the insurance.

“And it hasn’t made us weaker; it’s made us stronger”

Are you kidding me?!?! America is not weaker? This is la-la land.

It’s time for a new President.
