I needed to take a break from politics and my job frustration to share about a movie I saw recently titled, Paranormal Activity.
The movie follows a boyfriend and girlfriend as they suffer through multiple nights of a haunting.
Do not assume this is anything like The Exorcist or any other haunted house movie, it seeps into your soul and seriously messes you up.
The boyfriend, Micah, buys a camera to “capture” the events on tape. He doesn’t take things too seriously until the end of the film when the truly horrific begins to occur. He taunts the “thing” and pulls out a Ouija Board in order to talk with it.
The girlfriend, Katie, confesses to a psychic that she’s been “followed” by something since she was eight years old.
Every night that you see, something happens. It begins innocently with their bedroom door moving a few inches, followed by bangs, screams, feet stomping, and more.
I never understood why the couple didn’t just leave the house and go to a Motel 6 or something. Yes, the thing will follow her, but at least this would get them out of the craziness for a while.
The ending sets up a nice new mythos for moviegoers and horror fans and was suggested by Steven Spielberg.
It is a frightening movie. Beat out Saw VI which tells you that people enjoy the “clean” horror rather than the blood and guts of recent years.
It’s rated R for the number of times, foul language is used. And seriously, if your house was being haunted by whatever it is in this house…you’d say a few choice words too.
As of January 2010 I will no longer be employed by this company.
This company I have been trying to leave for some time. (if you’ve read the older posts, you’d see)
And I’m pretty fine with it. I wish I had more than a couple months to find employment, and I wish people were hiring.
Perhaps what I need to do is go to my government and look up all the thousand of jobs they’re creating because as far as I’ve seen, there is nothing that will provide the kind of income I need for a family.
Everyone is looking for part-time and no benefits.
Is it time to start pushing for Congress to act? People (Conservatives) are up in arms against this Health Care Reform but I’d like to hear them and what they have to say if they ever lose their coverage or are unable to afford it.
Please notice the new Social Vibe Widget on the right-hand side of this page.
This is a very simple way to help fund ways to find a cure for cancer. When you click on that Stand Up To Cancer box, you will see a window open up. It’s basically an ad for whichever brand is sponsoring the Social Vibe at the time. All you have to do is rate a video, vote for a character, or click that you’ve watched the ad. You don’t pay a thing.
The brand will honor your viewing of their ad and donate money to Stand Up To Cancer each time you click on their ad.
Very simply, it goes to a great cause, and best of all it’s FREE!
Please help me in my support to Stand Up To Cancer
I’ve been moaning and complaining about this job ever since I began this blog. I was hoping I would have moved on by now – both physically and emotionally.
But here I am; in the same location, doing the same thing. But here’s the catch! They’re cutting my hours and salary in half and wanting me to do the same amount of work.
I want out of this place!
I thought I would be working with a new company and new faces…I don’t get it.
To top it off, my spouse’s job is going away. Well that’s not exactly true – they’re taking away the salary.
So here we are Mr. President Obama. You promised us recovery! You promised jobs! You promised a better America and all that you have to show for your promises is higher debt and higher unemployment.
Can you imagine what the outcry would’ve been like if this had happened under President Bush?!?! As it is, we’re seeing your approval ratings plummet. You’re finally seeing how people cannot stomach promises that aren’t kept.
You’re dragging this country under with your recovery plan and you actually think things are getting better.
You’re insulting to the American people – correction, the American people who are wise enough to see a fraud.
Harsh words for a President? Maybe but until I see the results you promised, I’ll be on your back like a crack cocaine monkey. When those results do come in, I’ll be more than happy to eat crow and spend however long apologizing.
Yesterday I was talking with our regional secretary and decided to put my name into the hat for people willing to be CEOs of businesses within the region. We have branches all over and I used to just be an Associate but with the economy and the way finances are, I decided to take a leap and see if I am CEO material.
Today was one of those days where I found myself begging the God of this universe, “If You’re there and if there is a Christ, please send him now.”
Nothing good happened. Nothing.
I’ve learned that I would make a lousy leader. We all make mistakes right? Well the impact my mistakes have on others diminishes their lives significantly.
I’ve also tried to teach myself that there are much larger, worse things to be angry about. AIDS in Africa, the death of innocents in Iraq, Afghanistan and all around the world. Yet I can’t get these feelings out of my system and it’s my fault.
How selfish is that? I wish the Christ of God would finish this experiment and begin the next one.
The worst part is, I get to deal with the mess I’ve created tomorrow. I get to stew and ponder on my failure(s) throughout the night.
I had a dream last night that had to do with bullies and geeks.
They broke up into two teams, Geeks vs Bullies, to play some football.
For some reason there were grand stands and a bunch of us were watching the game.
On one of the kick-offs, as the Geeks were going to get the ball, one of their own hit the football down to the ground on purpose. So the Bullies got the ball back.
But it must have been a bad thing to do because they grabbed this Geek and took him out of eye site.
When they came back into view, they had nailed this Geek to a wooden cross; only he was facing the wood. And there was a nail through his neck!
You could hear him gagging and gasping for breath.
Before President Obama was sworn in, I would blog about the trouble with my current job situation.
As of this week, I am on the look out for a part-time job. The company is so strapped for finances, if something isn’t done soon – we will be out of money in two months.
This is why I’m looking for a job. I’m thinking about Wal Mart, Target, Borders, Best Buy, or even the local Y.
And here’s the rub: whatever I make at this new part-time job will go directly to the company…somehow…
How many of us are going to be out of a job before May?
I’d like to look into those transcript writing jobs. You know, the kind that can be performed from home? I think I would be decent at that. But there’s a test that needs to be taken beforehand right?
I seriously think the handwriting is on the wall. I believe (ie WANT) I’ll be moving to another location – possibly a new state – soon.
I hope this whole, “the economy will get worse before it gets better” lasts a day and then picks back up. The nation will grade you on this President Obama. Governors Palin and Huckabee are waiting in the wings for just the right mistake.
Is this for real? President-elect Obama wants us to upload our medical records to a large network of computers. He’ll have to build a team of super-techies to modernize hospitals and health clinics all across The United States.
The promoted bonus to this course of action is the promise of jobs it will create. He’ll need the people to build the network and keep it running. Okay, kudos for that. But what about safety and privacy?
I’m sure Obama’s team has this all taken care of and *ahem* under advisement, yes?
Maybe it’s just because this was front page news, and I may already have my health records online…I should look, but I don’t think I’m too happy with this.
I’m happy with the idea of getting rid of all the paper work and middleman stuff. But I’m really nervous about hackers and security.
My boss did not get the promotion he was looking for. With the income our business bringing in, it looks as if my time with this company is coming to a close.
January 25th will be the big day. After that, I will either be keeping my job, or furiously seeking new employment.
