President Finding Jobs

December 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here is the full transcript.

Because of the Recovery Act and a number of other steps we’ve taken, we’re no longer facing the potential collapse of our financial system or a second Great Depression. We’re no longer losing jobs at a rate of 700,000 a month. And our economy’s growing for the first time in a year.

At what rate are we currently losing jobs? What kind of good news tells us we’re still losing jobs?

too many of our neighbors are still out of work because the growth we’ve seen hasn’t yet translated into all the jobs we need.

This is because all that money for recovery went to the big banks and Wall Street who hoarded the money to save their accounts. The average American was left with nothing.

I’m determined to do everything I can to accelerate our progress so we’re actually adding jobs again.

Here is the proof that President Obama is going to add more government programs and engorge it on our money. I doubt we see any fruit from their labor.

We brought together unions and universities to talk about what we can do to support our workers today and prepare our students to outcompete workers around the world tomorrow.

So you talked about what businesses can do for those currently working and the future workers who are still in school. What about those of us looking for work now?

to deal with the mounting federal debt.

President Obama’s way of dealing with the mounting debt is to add to it. Anyone disagree?

But I didn’t run for President to pass emergency recovery programs, or to bail out banks or to shore up auto companies. I didn’t run for President simply to manage the crisis of the moment, while kicking our most pressing problems down the road.

You didn’t? You seem to be doing a perfectly good job at kicking them.

Obama Gives Thanks

November 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here is the full transcript.

And we say a special thanks for the sacrifices those men and women in uniform are making for our safety and freedom

I’ve always wondered what a “special thanks” sounds like. Is it more impactful than just your regular thanks?

Many have lost jobs in this recession – the worst in generations.

And many have lost jobs in the recovery plan you signed into law.

But as I said when I took office, job recovery from this crisis would not come easily or quickly.

But you said that after you said it needs to happen right now, right away. It was after the fact that you changed and said the jobs wouldn’t come soon.

Obama Will Go Anywhere?

November 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here is the transcript.

As we emerge from the worst recession in generations, there is nothing more important than to do everything we can to get our economy moving again and put Americans back to work,

We are emerging but we aren’t moving yet? This seems to be a contradiction. I don’t believe any American who isn’t the CEO of a company or working for a big bank/Wall Street feel this recession is over.

We made progress with China and Russia in sending a unified message to Iran and North Korea that they must live up to their international obligations and either forsake nuclear weapons or face the consequences.

Progress? Iran and North Korea are behaving as they always have. The progress you are claiming has done nothing.

As the two largest consumers and producers of energy, we developed a host of new clean energy initiatives with China, and our two nations agreed to work toward a successful outcome at the upcoming climate summit in Copenhagen

Put simply: they only agreed on words. The action to achieve this will never happen.

This recession has taught us that we can’t return to a situation where America’s economic growth is fueled by consumers who take on more and more debt.

This sentence is incredible. President Obama says we cannot return to a economy fueled by more and more debt…Does he not see what his agenda has done to the national debt?

I think I understand. The Obama administration doesn’t want the American people to have personal debt in order for us to take care of the national debt they thrust upon us.

we need to spend less, save more

Yes. Yes we/you do.

It is important that we do not make any ill-considered decisions

Read this as any decisions made by anyone not part of the Democrat party.

I will not let up until businesses start hiring again, unemployed Americans start working again, and we rebuild this economy stronger and more prosperous than it was before

If that’s the case, then, Mr. President, you will never let up.

President Obama Honors Veterans

November 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here is the full transcript.

There is an ongoing investigation into this terrible tragedy. That investigation will look at the motives of the alleged gunman, including his views and contacts.

They’re looking to pin this as an act of terrorism from radical Islam…

given the potential warning signs that may have been known prior these shootings, we must uncover what steps – if any – could have been taken to avert this tragedy.

So it looks like they’ll try to blame anyone but the person who actually committed the crime.

I met with the leadership of our military and the intelligence community, and ordered them to undertake a full review of the sequence of events that led up to the shootings.

Does that include how to better protect the service men and women? Or does it include the discussion of firearms on a military base?

we must quickly and thoroughly evaluate and address any flaws in the system, so that we can prevent a similar breach from happening again.

Here’s the next crisis the Obama Administration will use to introduce some new leftist program. Mark my words, the outcome of this investigation cannot be good for liberty.

our troops must have the security that they deserve.

I think if you were to talk to the troops, they’d tell you exactly the kind of security they deserve.

all of us should resist the temptation to turn this tragic event into the political theater that sometimes dominates the discussion here in Washington.

I read these words and I mark them here. When this does become theater, we’ll know where to point the finger.

We owe our troops prayerful, considered decisions about when and where we commit them to battle to protect our security and freedom

This was code for his current decision-making process concerning troop levels and military plans in Afghanistan.

Weekly Address: Fort Hood

November 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here is the link to the full transcript.

This past Thursday, on a clear Texas afternoon, an Army psychiatrist walked into the Soldier Readiness Processing Center, and began shooting his fellow soldiers.

Ever the storyteller – President Obama adds that little detail about it being a clear afternoon.

it’s all the more heartbreaking and all the more despicable because of the place where it occurred and the patriots who were its victims.

That’s for sure. Let’s see if he knows more than we do.

even as we saw the worst of human nature on full display, we also saw the best of America. We saw soldiers and civilians alike rushing to aid fallen comrades; tearing off bullet-riddled clothes to treat the injured; using blouses as tourniquets; taking down the shooter even as they bore wounds themselves.

I have a relative who was one of those soldiers aiding the hurt.

I met with FBI Director Mueller, Defense Secretary Gates, and representatives of the relevant agencies to discuss their ongoing investigation into what led to this terrible crime.

Isn’t is obvious? The man didn’t want to be shipped out.

Our thoughts are with all the families who’ve lost a loved one in this national tragedy.

Seeing as I’ve not been a recipient of this kind of comment, does the idea of someone’s thoughts being with you help in any way?

They are Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus and nonbelievers.

I wonder if the term “nonbelievers” offends anyone.

so long as our nation endures.

Wait – what? “So long as our nation endures”? That doesn’t sound like there’s much hope for it enduring!

Are Jobs Being Created? Obama says Surely!

November 2, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here is the transcript to read in full.

And the truth is, over the past ten months, I’ve often had to report distressing news during what has been a difficult time for our country.

I wonder why he had to add, “and the truth is”. It almost makes it seem as if most of the other stuff he’s talking about isn’t the truth.

It’s like when someone says, “I’ll be honest with you … ” Like what they’ve already said isn’t them being honest.

We learned that the economy grew for the first time in more than a year and faster than at any point in the previous two years.

This is good news right?

It is easy to forget that it was only several months ago that the economy was shrinking rapidly and many economists feared another Great Depression.

You yourself continually used that phrase, Mr. President – you and your team were/are alarmists like every other politician.

Now, economic growth is no substitute for job growth.

That, my friends, is truth in it’s purest form.

And we will likely see further job losses in the coming days, a fact that is both troubling for our economy and heartbreaking for the men and women who suddenly find themselves out of work.

Like me; I will be out of a job come January 2010.

Based on reports coming in from across America – as shovels break ground, as needed public servants are rehired, and as factories whir to life – it is clear that the Recovery Act has now created and saved more than one million jobs.

Please post these reports.

The Obama Takeover Plan

October 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here is the transcript from last week’s address.

That’s why the Recovery Act was designed to help small businesses expand and create jobs.

Is that why most of the money went to large banks and Wall Street? Seems to me that the Recovery Act was designed to bail out the greedy lawless CEOs and major corporations.

I also announced that we’ll be taking additional steps through our Financial Stability plan to make more credit available to the small local and community banks that so many small businesses depend on

So small businesses may be under his control as well?

I see this administration sticking its finger into places where it shouldn’t. There are some aspects of life that the federal government should stay away from. It doesn’t need to own everything.

I have a feeling that President Obama’s team may take the credit for the success of the latest scare movie, Paranormal Activity and how it owns Hollywood.

Like this post, this is getting ridiculous.

Obama Wrestles With Money

October 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here is the full transcript for you to read

Over the better part of the past year, a great debate has taken place in Washington and across America, about how to reform our health care system to provide security for people with insurance, coverage for those without insurance, and lower costs for everyone.

I guess it all depends on what he means by “great”. I don’t think the name-calling and screaming (from both sides) equals anything great. If he means, large – then I will grant him the use of great when talking about the health care reform debate.

we can point to a broad and growing coalition of doctors and nurses, [...] including leading Democrats and many leading Republicans – who recognize the urgency of action.

I don’t think anyone would claim that action is not needed in our health care system. I think it’s the form of action. We all agree something must be done, change must occur. Not all agree on your plan.

But this is not the time to pat ourselves on the back.

As you did when you “learned” of your Nobel Prize??? But we won’t get into that.

No – your administration should not pat the backs quite yet. Jobs are still disappearing and you can no longer blame President Bush for this. This job loss is all on you.

[The Insurance Companies are] filling the airwaves with deceptive and dishonest ads. They’re flooding Capitol Hill with lobbyists and campaign contributions.  And they’re funding studies designed to mislead the American people.

I would like to see the proof of this. I’m not denying that it’s happening, I would just like to see an example or two.

But what I will not abide are those who would bend the truth – or break it – to score political points and stop our progress as a country.

Mark those words Mr. President. You said them and now you are being held accountable. May you never bend the truth to score political points.

Obama Becoming Bush

October 5, 2009 · Leave a Comment

The transcript is here.

Over and over again. We’re hearing the same mumbo-jumbo from a different President. The difference: Bush was war on terror; Obama is war on health care. All these Presidents do is repeat and repeat and repeat.

What’s that saying if you say something loud enough and long enough, you’ll start to believe it?

When I took office eight months ago, our nation was in the midst of an economic crisis unlike any we’d seen in generations.

The President cannot shake this anti-Bush mentality. This is your administration mucking things up now sir. Don’t give us this trash about what you inherited eight years ago. We’re sick of hearing you bemoan President Bush.

But yesterday’s report on September job losses was a sobering reminder that progress comes in fits and starts, and that we will need to grind out this recovery step by step.

Backpedaling after promising the people that recovery would happen quickly once your plan was in place. This is the second thing we’re sick of hearing repeated.

And I won’t let up until those who seek jobs can find them; until businesses that seek capital and credit can thrive; and until all responsible homeowners can stay in their homes.

This is different, he used to say he wouldn’t rest until the jobs come back. And yet he has time to play Oliver and beg the Olympic Commission to send them to Chicago. (Which failed horribly) But I saw that trial as our President attempting to bring in the big bucks which ties into him finding the resources.

Rising health care costs are undermining our businesses, exploding our deficits, and costing our nation more jobs with each passing month.

Once this reform passes through Congress (and we all know it will) what will be the next thing that is undermining this country that President Obama will save us from? I can guarantee there will be something we will “have to be afraid of”.

This has become the administration of the 21st Century – Pop Culture edition.

Obama to Stop Nukes

September 29, 2009 · 1 Comment

Here is the transcript from the weekly address.

Today, I can report on what we achieved—a new commitment to meet common challenges, and real progress in advancing America’s national security and economic prosperity.

Let’s wait and see what the details are, but from here it just sounds like empty political words. Just like what a person expects from an entity such as The U.N.

over the past nine months my administration has renewed American leadership

Seriously, Mr President – you really need to let go of your hatred for President Bush. You didn’t renew American leadership.

In Pittsburgh, the world’s major economies agreed to continue our effort to spur global demand to put our people back to work

All talk. That’s all I see. When I see tangible results I’ll begin to trust these so-called G-20 administrations.

And we resolved to move forward in the journey toward a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

It’s a telling process when the groups have to agree just to move forward. They’re not even talking action points yet.

the Security Council endorsed our global effort to lock down all vulnerable material within four years.

And yet again, the proof will be tangible or another empty phrase from that body.

all nations have the right to peaceful nuclear energy

So Iran should have the right to this energy. Why won’t they let people inspect them?

President Medvedev of Russia and I agreed that Iran must pursue a new course or face consequences.

Those in Iran, when they heard, “or face consequences” they all yawned.
